In the past year, all those years and miles of hiking started catching up when I developed Plantar fasciitis, though, to be fair, the recent trend of ultra-light soled shoes really appear to be the worst culprit. You know the shoes: weigh nothing with a thin outsole that conforms to the bottom of and flexes with the foot. This type of shoe tends to have greater lateral rigidity, and aims to conform to the 'natural' flex of the foot while walking. They may have good arch support, but usually do not, and little cushioning. So, one's weight hits each heel with little impact absorption, and follows through to the toes on push-off.For strong, and that might mean 'young' feet, that lack of support and cushioning might not be bad, but for some of us it turns out to be non-ideal. So, I've been moving away from the few pairs I bought that mimic this minimalist design and re-embracing shoes with greater structure and cushion. The Jax are showing to be a very good step in the right direction

First off, I have bought Born shoes for the last 8 years and have never returned them for any reason! These pair have proven to be the same quality and style I've grown to expect from Born.Very true to size (get the size you know that you are and that's it!) and expect to be comfortable and supported.
