Information Collection and Usage
Shoeline.com collects information from you in several ways.
- Registering with us: You have the option to register with us. By registering, you receive benefits such as easy order tracking, special promotions only for registered users, promotions via email, and express checkout. The information collected during registration include your name, gender, birthday, billing address, and shipping address. We also ask you to select an alphanumeric password for this account. Your demographic information is used by Shoeline to gauge the type of users that visit our site which allows us to provide a better shopping experience for you. Your billing and shipping addresses are used for our Express Checkout feature as this information is entered for you at checkout each time you shop with us.
- Email Promotions Sign Up: You also have the option to sign up to our regular email promotions. We use this email address only to send email promotions to you. We provide you the option to Opt-Out of our emails by providing an Unsubscribe link in every promotional email we send.
- Ordering with us: When you place an order with us, we ask you to provide us billing and shipping information, email, phone, and credit card information. Your billing information and credit card information is used in conjunction to verify that the information provided is accurate via our payment processor. Your email address/phone number is used to communicate with you whenever new status updates are available regarding your order (order tracking info, backorders, changes to order, etc). - Cookies and Pixel Tracking: We use ‘cookies’ (a piece of data stored on your hard drive containing information about you) on Shoeline.com to enhance the shopping experience. Some uses include ‘remembering’ what items are in your cart if you exit and revisit our site without having completed the purchase. Please note that none of the information stored on the cookie is personally identifiable. Our cookies also are NOT able to read the files you have on your hard drive. You have the option to turn off cookies on your browser; however doing so will prevent you from completing an order on our web site.
- Shoeline.com uses pixel tags (transparent gif files) to help manage our online advertising campaigns and to make them as effective for our customers as possible. These GIF files are provided by our ad management partner, DoubleClick. These files enable DoubleClick to recognize a unique cookie on your Web browser, which in turn enables us to learn which advertisements bring users to our website. The cookie was placed by us, or by another advertiser who works with DoubleClick. With both cookies and Spotlight technology, the information that we collect and share is anonymous and not personally identifiable. It does NOT contain your name, address, telephone number, or email address.
- Customer Reviews: We encourage customers to provide reviews for the products that they’ve bought and are familiar with. The information collected includes first name, city/state, the ratings for the product, and your comments. While Shoeline reviews your posts for language, please only comment what’s necessary to convey your message. Please note that your review becomes the property of Shoeline.com after submittal and we can use it free of charge and in any manner we decide.
You can rest assured that providing your personal information to Shoeline.com will not result in junk mail or telemarketing calls. When you register, if you indicate that you wish to receive special offers, Shoeline.com will contact you by e-mail occasionally to inform you of changes to the Web site, promotional events and new product releases. You are given the opportunity with each e-mail notification to remove yourself from our e-mail contact list. We do not share your e-mail address with any other company. Shoeline.com may also from time to time send out its own promotional material in the mail as a thank you for being our customer.
